BIO 2014: A Spectacular Setting for Celebration, Reunions, and New Connections

The BIO conference always provides WIB members and prospective members a great opportunity to reunite with old friends and to make new connections, and BIO 2014 in San Diego was no exception!

WIB kicked off BIO 2014 with the WIB Annual Celebration on Monday, June 23, 2014, where over 200 women and men enjoyed beautiful weather, delicious food and beverages (including the signature "Wonder Women in Bio" cocktail), and great conversation - all on a terrace with a spectacular view overlooking the San Diego Bay.

Great food, drink, and conversation in the California sunshine!

WIB President-Elect Dimitra Georganopolou begins the evening’s program in front of spectacular San Diego Bay

The highlight of the evening was a "fireside chat" with WIB President Simone Fishburn interviewing our incredibly accomplished guest speaker, Annalisa Jenkins. Annalisa regaled the crowd with stories of her pathway to becoming a leading figure in the biopharmaceutical industry (including how she used to hang from a helicopter while with the British Royal Navy!), and offered advice to women on how to succeed in that industry.

On Tuesday, June 24, 2014, the convention officially started and WIB volunteers manned Booth # 2403, greeting convention attendees and sharing information about our rapidly growing organization. Tuesday afternoon brought the first of two WIB meet-ups:

The Women In Bio-Southern California “Area Professionals and Executives in the Life Science Industry” Meet-Up, where over 50 women had the opportunity to meet and mingle with fellow WIB members and prospective members.

The second meet-up, "Speed Networking Session for Existing and Prospective WIB Members," was held on the following afternoon, where over 100 women had an opportunity to meet and network with many other convention attendees in WIB's takeoff on speed dating.
