WIB–San Francisco Bay Area Mentors, Advisors and Peers Program Needs Mentors!
Are you an experienced and successful woman in the world of Bio? Are you interested in mentoring? The San Francisco chapter of Women In Bio offers a MAPs program that provides 1:1 mentoring for young women who are recent graduates or in early to middle stages of their careers. Mentors and Mentees are paired based on common interests, and then meet at mutually convenient times. Mentees typically look for advice in either career development, transitioning to an alternative career, work/family balance, promoting women at work, managing a team, or the entrepreneurial process. If you have a calling to be a Mentor, please get in touch with Vidula Dixit, Chair, WIB-San Francisco Bay Area MAPs Program to obtain more information. You can contact Vidula by emailing her at SanFrancisco@WomenInBio.org.

On November 19, 2014, successful career coach Hallie Crawford, M.A., C.P.C.C., started out her impostor syndrome lecture by discussing her own bouts with the condition, and assured the crowd that they were not alone: Forty percent of professionals are unable to internalize and accept their accomplishments as deserved. The crowd attending the seminar was very interactive; everyone participated in the discussion and mentioned at least one action they were going to take to start getting back their self-confidence. Hallie even followed up with everyone a week later and reminded them to take these actions.
