WOMEN IN BIO | 2012 BIO International Convention Summary
Women In Bio at the 2012 BIO International Convention
The 2012 BIO International Convention, which was hosted in Boston in the backyard of our newly formed WIB-Greater Boston chapter, was a tremendous success by all measures, thanks to the enthusiastic group of volunteers and members from WIB. At the WIB booth, more than 400 women (and men) stopped by from around the country and globe to learn more about WIB, how to become members of our organization, and how to start chapters in their respective countries/areas. Based on the impressive feedback throughout the week, it was clear there is an important need for Women In Bio on a global scale!
WIB had extremely successful turnouts at all three of our events at the Convention: the Monday Kick-Off networking event at Fish & Richardson, the Tuesday Meetup, and the Wednesday Speed Networking Session.
On Monday, overlooking a breathtaking view of Boston waterfront, members wined and dined on fabulous food while engaging in the ocean of conversations. Excitement was in the air for the arrival of BIO and what better way to show off Boston than with breathtaking views of the landscape.
On Tuesday, the BIO Convention started with a big bang, and Women In Bio was in the thick of the excitement. Our first Meetup attracted women from all over the world to casually network while enjoying drinks and delicious cookies.
On Wednesday, WIB hosted a well-attended and very active Speed Network session at the Meetup lounge in the heart of the Convention center. Attendees successfully made productive new connections while also catching up with old friends and colleagues.
WIB was interviewed multiple times throughout the week. Play the audio below of Women In Bio President, Phyllis Dillinger, discussing WIB.

Alexandria Papa of the WIB-Greater Boston chapter was interviewed by The Examiner. Alex spoke about the role of WIB, the growth of the WIB-Greater Boston chapter, and WIB’s participation at the Boston Convention Center. Click here to read this article.
With strong attendance and presence at BIO, we had over 400 business cards entered into our raffle over the course of the entire week for free memberships. We are pleased to announce the 4 winners: Vivianne Santos, Karin Verzijden, Kathy McKenna, and Kerrie Brady.
We are also thrilled to announce the premiere of our twitter, @WomenInBio - so please do not hesitate to follow us.
