Happy New Year, Women In Bio! As we enter our 10th year of being one of the leading organizations for women in the life sciences industry, I am honored to serve as the WIB President for such an amazing and diverse group of members and supporters. As outgoing President Deb Bowes expressed in her closing statement of support for our ongoing efforts, "There is still much work for us to do to keep this rapid growth moving forward."
WIB has gained so much momentum and visibility over the last two years with the expansion of our chapters both nationally and internationally and nearly tripling our membership. This phenomenal growth has been a result of dedicated committee leaders and volunteers as well as the generous, interactive sponsors of this rapidly growing organization.
The strategic plan for WIB established three years ago has now become reality. The WIB Board of Directors will continue to revise and update the plan to meet the growing demands of women around the world to have a viable organization of professionals committed to growing the careers, leadership and entrepreneurial skill sets of women in the life sciences.
One of the initiatives the Board is pleased to announce is the addition of an Executive Director for WIB. Due to the rapid expansion of the organization, having an Executive Director will provide support to WIB members and leaders as well as to ensure our mission and vision is fulfilled at an international level. I am pleased to announce that Ms. Christine Warrington has accepted the Executive Director position. Ms. Warrington was the Research Triangle Park, NC Chapter Chair and National Chapter Chair for the past two years and also served on the WIB Board of Directors. Ms. Warrington has more than 20 years experience in helping life science organizations grow to their full potential. She has been instrumental in growing WIB globally and continues to have a tremendous passion and energy to continue this endeavor for WIB. Please join me in congratulating Christine on her new position!
In 2012, WIB's goals include:
Doubling our membership
Adding four additional chapters
Recruiting exceptional women to serve at the WIB National Committee level. To view the open positions, click here.
Increase programs across all chapters and continuing to provide national programming webinars for our members. (Keep an eye out for our first quarterly webinar series of the year, beginning with the topic, "Knowing Your Worth.")
I plan to update you with WIB's progress on a quarterly basis. My promise to all the members and volunteers during my term is to lead by passion, be open to new ideas, and to retain and recruit motivating leaders so that WIB continues to be transformational for women in the life sciences. We, as an organization, have so much to do in 2012. I urge everyone to get involved and to give back this year to this wonderful community of women. Here's to a fabulously successful year ahead for WIB!
Sincerely,
Phyllis Dillinger
