Got Questions?

What is a Friend & Family Champion?

A Friend & Family Champion is someone who not only donates but also invites their personal and professional network to support Women In Bio. Whether you ask a friend, colleague, mentor, or loved one to join you, you’re helping build a stronger and more connected community.

Anyone who cares about science, leadership, or creating a more vibrant future for the life sciences. Our programs are open to all — members, allies, industry partners — and every contribution helps expand access to education, mentorship, and opportunity.

Not at all. You can simply share our donation link or campaign story via email, text, or social media. We’ll provide templates and graphics to make it easy. A personal message goes a long way.

Every dollar makes a difference. When combined with others, every gift creates real impact. And by encouraging others to give too, you multiply your contribution — and your reach.

What is a Corporate Match Champion?

This Champion uses their employer’s matching gift program to multiply their impact. Thousands of companies match employee donations — sometimes doubling or tripling the original gift.

Start by checking your HR portal or employee giving site. You can also ask your HR, payroll, or corporate responsibility team directly. If you’re unsure, we can help you look it up.

Yes! Most companies allow you to request a match after making a donation. In many cases, you have up to 12 months to submit the request.

Processing times vary by employer, but typically take 4–8 weeks. That’s why we recommend submitting match requests early if you want them counted in this calendar year.

Absolutely — and we hope you do! We’ll provide you with messaging you can use to spread the word internally.

You can still be a Corporate Champion by advocating for Women In Bio at your workplace. Some companies offer grants, volunteer hour matches, or sponsorships — we’d love to work with you on partnership ideas.

What is a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)?

A Donor-Advised Fund is a flexible giving vehicle that allows individuals to support nonprofits like Women In Bio through a tax-efficient charitable account. DAFs are available through institutions like Fidelity Charitable, Schwab, Vanguard, and community foundations.

DAFs make it easier to plan and manage your philanthropic giving. You can recommend a grant to Women In Bio at any time, and many DAFs allow for recurring or legacy gifts. It’s a great way to provide reliable, long-term support to programs that matter to you.

Log in to your DAF platform and search for “Women In Bio” as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. You can recommend a one-time or recurring grant. Please let us know so we can properly acknowledge your contribution.

Sometimes, yes — especially if your employer matches donations to nonprofits regardless of the giving source. We recommend asking your HR or benefits team for details.

Your contribution helps us plan and scale programs that empower women at all career stages, while strengthening the broader life sciences community. DAF gifts allow us to invest in mentorship, scholarships, and leadership development with stability and confidence.

Where does my donation go?

Your gift supports our national network of volunteers, programming, and resources — helping more people access mentorship, professional development, and opportunities to lead. We focus on scalable programs that empower individuals and strengthen the life sciences sector as a whole.

Women In Bio supports career growth across all stages — from educational programs for students and early professionals, to mentoring, networking, leadership development, and board readiness for experienced professionals. Our programs are designed to meet people where they are and help them take the next step.

No. While our mission focuses on advancing the careers of women in the life sciences, our membership, events, and programs are open to all. We believe that a more inclusive industry benefits everyone — and we welcome anyone who shares that vision to participate, support, and engage.

Yes. You can make a gift anonymously or under a household, company, or foundation name. If you’d like to remain anonymous, just let us know in the donation form.

You can be a Champion by sharing our story, inviting others to give, or promoting the campaign in your workplace. You can also volunteer, sponsor a program, or become a member — every action helps advance our mission.
