*FULL* WIB-Washington DC/Baltimore: Institute for Genome Sciences (IGS) Hosts Young Women In Bio: Exploring Bioscience and Careers
The Institute for Genome Sciences (IGS) at the University of Maryland School of Medicine invites Baltimore area middle school girls for an afternoon discovering the fun and challenge of science and medical careers. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 4:00 p.m.to 6:45 p.m. EDT in downtown Baltimore. It includes a hands-on lab exercise and an informal discussion with women working in science and medicine. A separate simultaneous event about nurturing interests in science will be held for parents. WIB-San Francisco Bay Area: Join Us for an Evening of Speed Networking
An exciting environment for women in the biotech industry to meet as many people as possible in a two-hour time period. This is a great way to mingle, learn fast facts and make connections with new peers in the region. Ms. Dillinger speaks about the value for women to attend this event, and how it is a great opportunity to network with people who you wouldn’t likely cross paths with in your career. WIB's "Discussion with the Expert" Series Continues with Jeffrey Shuren, M.D., J.D.
WIB had over 80 people attend the most recent installment of the "Discussion with the Expert" series on April 26, 2012. This event featured Dr. Jeff Shuren, M.D., J.D., Director of the Center for Devices and Radiological Health for the FDA. Dr. Shuren began by outlining CDRH's mission and vision, and introduced a new program at the FDA called Innovation Pathway, which is designed to create a greater collaboration between device companies and agency experts to shorten the time and resources needed to get products and services to market. The FDA hopes the Innovation Pathway program will transform how the agency and innovators work together.
