Message from WIB National President & Board Chair, Azurii Collier

Hello WIB Community,

I hope you have all had a great start to the year. I am thrilled to share with you my first message as WIB President and tell you about the exciting things to come this year. I look forward to working with each of you as we continue to impact bio! I invite you to click the image below to watch my video message and read below for a look ahead.

2023 Focus Area: Women Impacting Bio

In 2016, the Biotechnology Industry Organization changed its name to the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO). In 2023, Women In Bio (WIB) will adjust the “I” and temporarily champion the motto Women Impacting Bio! Here’s how we’ll do that:

  1. Impact Campaign: We will create a social media campaign with a unique landing page for members to share their Impact stories and have our community join us to #IgniteTheImpact. Launching in April 2023!
  2. Bond With BIO: We want to enhance the relationship with state BIOs and develop a joint operating model for industry imperatives.
  3. Capitalize on Content: We will turn existing content into intellectual capital, focusing on industry trends and hot topics, and pivot career skills.

Q1 Recap

We hosted some incredible webinars — with topics ranging from the value of mentorship, developing a playbook for managing wealth, to how to take the next step after a career break. You can watch them all in our Members-Only Video Library.

Looking Ahead to Q2

WIB Impact Campaign — a social media campaign where you tell how you are impacting bio. We encourage all members to tell their impact story and join us as we #IgniteTheImpact. Details on the campaign will launch in the April newsletter.

BIO International Convention — join us in Boston, MA June 5–8, 2023. There will be a series of dynamic WIB events, including a Pitch Competition Lobster Pot, Breakthrough Stories in Biotech at the Plenary, and many others!

I am very excited to continue working to achieve great things with you all this year.

Best regards,

Azurii Collier
